August 25, 2009 | Palo Alto, CA - MetricStream, Inc., the market leader in enterprise-wide Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) and Quality Management solutions, today announced availability of the report titled “In Manufacturing, Quality Management Systems Evolve” authored by Dan Miklovic, Research Vice President at Gartner, through their website www.metricstream.com.

Among other findings, the report highlights that “disparate, disconnected quality applications do not let companies manage quality so much as merely collect information about quality, which has led to the evolution of QMS”

This report also states that multiple quality tools and applications pose a problem and duplication of functionality and the consequent inefficiencies are becoming unacceptable in today's economic climate.

As companies grow organically as well as inorganically, they tend to accumulate multiple applications supporting their quality programs. These legacy systems and point-solutions are typically designed with limited functional scope for departmental usage and do not offer the flexibility and scalability for enterprise-level usage.

The report analyzes these scenarios and focuses on critical aspects of quality management including risk management and regulatory compliance. It provides guidance to making architectural decisions to meet quality management needs in the medium and long term based on business and IT environment.

“Our success with enterprise-wide quality management solution implementations at large manufacturing establishments has demonstrated that an integrated approach to quality, compliance and risk delivers a rich set of benefits and improves business performance,” said Carl McCauley, Vice President of Sales at MetricStream. “The growing mix of complex products, a global supplier base and stringent regulatory requirements has created a need for organizations to deploy a well-architected QMS platform that provides real-time visibility via a global common repository ensures closed loop processes and supports efficient workflows for routing of information.

“The need to manage issues originating from various points in the value chain - defects reported by customers, material nonconformance during manufacturing processes, quality issues in the supply chain - has further increased the need have an integrated QMS solution,” he added.
