According to a recent study conducted on the Food and Beverage industry, one of the top five threats affecting profit margins was regulatory compliance and one of the growth barriers for organizations to expand their operations into newer markets was regulatory and legislative pressures. Around 67% of the respondents in the study expressed their concern over how the new Food Safety Modernization Act would affect their business, when compared to the other emerging health reforms and federal and tax policies.

As one of the most closely scrutinized industries, the food and beverage industry has seen an upsurge of regulations, audits assessments, and rise in risks related to enterprise, supply chain, trading, and compliance, in the recent past.  To manage corporate policies, internal controls, compliance and risk requirements, various assessments and audits, food and beverage organizations are shifting their Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) program from a siloed approach to a more integrated and transparent framework to help them comply with existing and emerging compliance requirements, monitor compliance, audit, and quality programs, and mitigate risks.

In this discussion, Jason Mefford - President at Mefford Associates and Sonal Sinha - Associate Vice President of Industry Solutions at MetricStream will share valuable insights on:

  • Best practices for integrating governance, risk, compliance, and audit programs
  • Effective strategies for managing and monitoring various compliance regulations and audits
  • Conducting privacy assessments and annual compliance reviews
  • Adopting risk management frameworks to manage the complexity of risks
  • Collating and presenting compliance risk and audit program metrics to the board
  • Integrating GRC programs with other Quality Management, EHS and Sustainability programs for better business process assurance
