October 10, 2013 | Palo Alto, California: One of the largest online discount retailers, selling a broad range of products, has chosen MetricStream to provide an integrated conflict minerals software solution and services to ensure compliance with the conflict minerals disclosure obligations under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

MetricStream will provide the retailer with a flexible conflict minerals reporting solution that can be easily extended over time to integrate with product lifecycle management and supplier management systems for a sustainable Conflict Minerals Program. The solution is built on a scalable compliance infrastructure and MetricStream will strengthen these processes by offering robust technology tools, online support, and comprehensive training services to support higher supplier response rates.

For the retailer, conflict minerals compliance is at the top of the agenda, and their overall goal is to sell products that are 3TG free. Partnering with MetricStream, the retailer will be able to establish a sustainable long-term approach to conflict minerals management, which will also enhance their broader supplier governance initiatives.

To kick off the engagement, MetricStream’s team of supplier management domain experts will help the company’s Legal and Compliance teams design industry standard Conflict Minerals surveys, communication templates, and uniform supplier protocols. MetricStream will continue to support the company as they execute their conflict minerals plan, which includes developing supplier surveys and self-assessments, collaborating with suppliers, and providing comprehensive reporting.

MetricStream’s helpdesk services will enable the retailer to capture, collate, and analyze data on smelter lists, country of origin of materials, and products that contain conflict minerals. The MetricStream solution will provide a secure and centralized data repository where the company can store and manage all of their conflict minerals and supplier information, as well as map this data to relevant business units. The retailer can leverage the solution to gain transparency into supplier risk profiles, and the overall status of their conflict minerals program, which culminates with the filing of Form SD.

MetricStream’s conflict minerals software solution is a Zaplet application available on Zaplet.com, an open and flexible cloud platform and ecosystem for building and distributing specialized and niche GRC applications that address specific industry challenges. Zaplet leverages MetricStream GRC Platform-as-a-service on the cloud and MetricStream Application Studio, a web-based development environment, enabling rapid development and deployment of GRC applications for specific risk management and regulatory compliance requirements.
