Redwood Shores, Calif. (10/04/2004) - MetricStream, Inc., a market leader in the enterprise-wide quality and compliance market today announced application delivery ("zaplet") via email in its latest release, MetricStream 3.5. This innovative capability will enable organizations to engage every relevant internal casual user and external partner in the compliance process through the ubiquitous email without needing to use or learn the compliance application. MetricStream 3.5 is generally available to all MetricStream customers. MetricStream also announced today new capabilities for offline audit - see associated press release.

One of the key factors for successful compliance with regulations is that everyone who interacts with the relevant processes should follow the defined policies and procedures. Typically these procedures and policies are encapsulated in applications that automate the process. Hence successful compliance requires 100% adoption of these applications by everyone who interacts with the process. However this requirement also implies that even the most casual users within the enterprise and at suppliers should know how to navigate through the application and should always use it as they interact with the process, making them the weakest link in the compliance process. The MetricStream 3.5 platform addresses this issue by delivering relevant application forms - called zaplets, through email for casual users. The email is sent by the MetricStream application to these casual users with forms embedded inside the email to collect the required data. When the user receives the email from the application, (s)he opens the email and then enters the relevant information in the form and hits send. The application processes the email, as if the information inside the email form was entered on an online application by the user. As a result, the casual user works within the familiar email system without needing to learn to navigate and use the application. With this new capability, the MetricStream 3.5 solution allows companies to ensure adoption of their quality and compliance application by all relevant users.

"Compliance requires all relevant process stakeholders within and outside the company boundaries to use the appropriate systems, but with many applications this can be difficult for casual users", said Hiro Ono, Project Leader of Information Technology at IDEC Corporation. "MetricStream's new email-based application delivery functionality enables us to proactively engage all of our users in our MetricStream system. We look forward to upgrading our applications to MetricStream 3.5 in the near future".

"MetricStream continues to leverage its architecture to lead the industry in delivering the most innovative quality and Compliance Solution to the market place", said Shellye Archambeau, CEO of MetricStream. "Ensuring 100% adoption of applications by casual internal users and partners is a real issue that needs to be addressed for a world-class deployment of a compliance application. I am very excited about MetricStream's ability to address such hard issues".
